Getting your data out
Six ways out of the app, for four different jobs: a printed, signable logbook for a licence application or an interview; a spreadsheet for your own analysis; a file that goes back into Aviator Archive somewhere else; and a filled federal form.
Read F1 first if what you want is the printed book — the other PDF guide builds on its panel. Read F6 before you rely on a CSV to carry your logbook anywhere.
| Guide | What it gets you | |
|---|---|---|
| F1 | Export a PDF logbook | A print-ready, signable logbook PDF, and an understanding of what’s on each page |
| F2 | Choosing your authority and page format | The right column layout, the right paper, and crew names if you want them |
| F3 | Export CSV, TSV or Excel | Your flights as data, free, in the shape the receiving tool wants |
| F4 | Export every entity | Your aircraft, people, organizations and airports, not only your flights |
| F5 | FAA 8710-1 Section III | Section III of the federal application, filled from your logged time and checked |
| F6 | What round-trips and what doesn’t | What survives an export and an import back, and what never leaves the app |
What costs money, and what never will
Two of the six formats are Pro. Four are free, and the app’s own legal gate commits to that in writing: your logbook is yours, and CSV and Excel export are free forever.
| Format | Cost |
|---|---|
| Pro | |
| CSV (logbook) | free |
| TSV (logbook, tab-delimited) | free |
| CSV (all entities, .zip) | free |
| Excel (.xlsx) | free |
| FAA 8710-1 Section III | Pro |
The free 100-hour limit doesn’t touch export. It caps what a free logbook records, not what leaves it. A free logbook of any size exports in full, in all four free formats, with no watermark, no limit on flights and no expiry.
One thing worth knowing first
There’s no Export screen. Export is one of three segments — Import, Export, Backup — inside a single modal, and most routes open it on Import.
| Where you start | What you tap | Where it opens |
|---|---|---|
| Logbook | ⋮ (More Actions) → Export Data | on Export |
| Logbook | ⋮ (More Actions) → Import Data | on Import — tap Export |
| Dashboard | the Import / Export / Backup card | on Import — tap Export |
| Hangar, Directory | ⋮ (More Actions) → Import Data | there’s no export entry here at all |
The menu item says Export Data and opens all six formats, four of them free. (Older versions of the app label it Export PDF. Read that as the way in, not as a limit on what the panel can write.) The Hangar and the Directory have no export entry of their own, so aircraft, people, organizations and airports are exported from the Logbook screen like everything else (→ F4).
Words this area introduces
Authority / Format — the jurisdiction whose column layout the printed PDF reproduces: EASA, UK CAA, FAA, TCCA, CASA or CAANZ. It isn’t the same setting as the authorities your currency is checked against, and changing it changes only what gets printed.
Extended sheet — the two paper sizes, Legal and Folio, wide enough to carry PIC Name and SIC Name columns beside a usable Remarks column. Crew names come with the paper size; there’s no separate switch for them.
Brought forward / Carried forward — the paper-logbook running total. Each printed page opens with the total of everything before it and closes with the total including it.
Round-trip — export a file, import it back, and get the same logbook. Some columns do this and some can’t; F6 has the list.
