What the free version does
The app is free to install and free to use up to 100 logged hours. You get the whole logbook, the airport and aircraft databases, local sync, and CSV and Excel export. At 75 hours it tells you the cap is coming; at 100 it stops accepting new flights until you buy. The cap counts every hour in your logbook, including hours you import or carry forward from a previous logbook; simulator sessions don't count. And your logbook is never locked: reading, exporting and backing it up keep working whether or not you ever buy.
What “lifetime” means here, precisely
Your licence unlocks Pro as a signed file stored on your device, not a subscription we keep re-checking. Once activated, Pro keeps working offline indefinitely — with no network, and with our servers switched off. There is no expiry date on it and no re-validation deadline.
Two things do need us, and we would rather say so than let you find out: activating a new device (a reinstall, or a new phone) needs one online sign-in, and device-to-device sync uses certificates that need a sign-in roughly every 90 days to renew. Your logbook, your data and every local Pro feature carry on regardless.
And if we ever shut the licensing service down, we have committed in the Terms (§6) to publishing a build that removes both of those checks, so activation and sync keep working without us. That is a term of your purchase, not a promise in a blog post.
The one cost that grows with use is quarantined
AI Scan is the one metered feature — it calls a cloud vision model and we are billed per page. So it is sold separately, in page packs, instead of being funded out of a fixed one-time payment. That is what keeps this price honest: nothing in the product has a per-user running cost that would one day have to be covered by a subscription. Lifetime includes 10 free pages.
You don't have to trust the lifetime promise
Your logbook is one SQLite file on your own device — openable with
sqlite3 whether or not we
still exist. CSV and XLS export stay free forever, Pro or not. And converting this
licence into a subscription isn't a policy we could quietly revise: it is ruled out
in the Terms (§6)
and the EULA (§5).
