Linux

Debian package · 64-bit

For Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Debian and anything else that uses apt. Installing it also subscribes you to updates, so later releases arrive through your normal system updates.

Download .deb

Then, in the folder you saved it to: sudo apt install ./aviator-archive_amd64.deb

Use apt, not dpkg -i. dpkg does not install dependencies — it will leave the app without the keyring service it needs to unlock your logbook, and the error you eventually see won't point back here.
› This package adds an update source. Here's exactly what that means.

Installing writes one file, /etc/apt/sources.list.d/aviator-archive.sources, pointing at our package repository, and installs our signing key at /usr/share/keyrings/aviator-archive-archive-keyring.gpg. That is how updates reach you — there is no updater inside the app, and without it you would have to come back to this page and check by hand. It's the same approach Chrome and VS Code take on Linux.

The key signs only our own repository, and nothing else on your system is touched. To opt out at any time and keep the app:

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/aviator-archive.sources

Removing the app removes both files.

› Prefer to add the repository yourself first?

Two commands, then install by name — no download needed:

sudo curl -fsSL https://dl.aviatorarchive.com/download/aviator-archive.gpg \
  -o /usr/share/keyrings/aviator-archive-archive-keyring.gpg

echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/aviator-archive-archive-keyring.gpg] https://dl.aviatorarchive.com/deb stable main" \
  | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/aviator-archive.list

sudo apt update && sudo apt install aviator-archive

Our signing key's fingerprint, published here rather than alongside the key itself so the two can be compared:

C162 9228 4930 118D 9463 5710 CBE7 598F 00DB 097D

To check the key you just downloaded matches it:

gpg --show-keys --with-fingerprint \
  /usr/share/keyrings/aviator-archive-archive-keyring.gpg
